He was arrested on 27 May 2019 in al-Mahrah Governorate (Yemen), where he was handed over to Saudi forces without any explanation for the arrest or presentation of a legal warrant. After being held for a period in a local military prison, he was transferred to Saudi Arabia in early June 2019, without any legal procedures being taken or a judicial order issued, and without any contact with his family. During his detention, he was subjected to enforced disappearance, and moved between Sha'ar Prison in Abha and Dhahban Prison in Jeddah. He is now detained in al-Tarafiya Prison in the al-Qassim region, without being brought to trial or formally charged.
